Scenario

 

STORYLINE: A 3-year National staff member at one of the missions you support has been evaluated as performing below acceptable standards, based on persistent tardiness over more than a year.

The Chief Civilian Personnel Officer used this poor performance review as a reason not to renew the staff member's contract when it came up at the end of this year. However, the staff member filed a rebuttal to the performance evaluation, and then filed a grievance over non-renewal of her contract. She said she should be allowed to continue working until her rebuttal process was complete.

As an FPD staff person, what guidance would you provide to the HR Officer at the mission on how to address this issue?
