Resetting a test for an individual student

When a student takes a test, grade statistics are stored in the gradebook and CourseCompass keeps a record of the test-taking effort. If the student clicks the link to take the test again, CourseCompass either displays a message that the test has already been taken or (depending on the options you selected when you made the test available) indicates that the test cannot be taken again.

You may want to "wipe the slate clean" and let the student take the test again. For example, the student may have experienced network or browser failure while taking the test.

To clear the student's test-taking attempt:

  1. Click the course title on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. Click Control Panel from the Course Home page.

  3. Click Online Gradebook under Assessment.

  4. Click Spreadsheet View.

  5. Find the cell in the table for the student's score on the test, and click the number or symbol in the cell.

  6. Click Clear Attempt at the top of the page.

The Spreadsheet View reappears. A dash (-), indicating that the student has not begun the assessment, replaces the number or symbol in the cell.

Note: You can also reset a test for the entire class by removing all students' scores on the test.
