Changing a grade in the Spreadsheet View

You can change the grade CourseCompass gave to a student's performance on a test. For example, upon review, you may decide that the student deserves a higher grade on an essay question. Or you may decide that a question is unclear and the student deserves credit for his or her response.

Note: An exclamation mark in the scores table means that the assessment requires manual grading.

To change an existing grade in the gradebook:

  1. Click the course title on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. Click Control Panel from the Course Home page.

  3. Click Online Gradebook under Assessment.

  4. Click Spreadsheet View.

  5. Find the cell in the scores table representing the grade you want to review.

  6. Click the grade.

CourseCompass displays the test, with the student's answer, the correct answer, and the points assigned.

  7. (Optional) Highlight the points given and enter a different number in the box.

CourseCompass allows you to enter a number greater than the original point value you assigned to the question. For example, if a student scored 90 out of 100 possible points and, upon review, you give the student 15 points for the one question he missed, the student would have a score of 105 on the test.

  8. Click Submit.

Note: Click Cancel to return to the Spreadsheet View without changing a grade.

CourseCompass displays the upgraded grade in the scores table.
