Adding a thread to a forum

You can start a string of messages about a new topic, issue, or question in a Discussion Board forum. To do so, you add a thread. When other participants respond to your message, responses are grouped with your original message so you can easily follow the conversation.

To add a thread to a Discussion Board:

1. Enter a Discussion Board forum.

2. Click Add New Thread.

3. Enter a subject and type your message.

4. Click one of the options for displaying the text:

• Smart Text displays the text as it is entered but converts URLs and email addresses into links.

• Plain Text displays the text exactly as it is entered, with no links.

• HTML codes the text you enter with HTML tags.

Note: You can also format text directly using HTML tags.

5. If the forum allows anonymous postings and you want to hide your identity, click the box next to Post message as Anonymous.

6. (Optional) Attach a file.

7. Click Preview to see how your message will look in the forum before you add it.

8. Click Submit to add the thread to the forum.

Note: Click Cancel to return to the Discussion Board forum without adding the thread.
