Adding an external link

You can organize external links in external link folders. To do so, you must first create the external link folder and then add items to it.

To add an external link:

  1. Click the course title on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. Click Control Panel from the Course Home page.

  3. Click External Links under Content Areas.

  4. Click Add Item.

  5. Under Link Information, type a name for the link.

  6. Enter the address of the web site in the URL box.

Tip: To ensure accurate entry, go to the site in your browser, copy the URL from the Location or Address box, and paste it into the URL box.

  1. Add a brief description of the resources available on the site.

  2. Click an option for displaying the text:

  1. Next to Launch item in external window, click Yes to display the linked page in a separate browser window.

  2. Next to Do you want to make the link visible?, click Yes if you want to make this link immediately available to students.

Note: If you click No, you can always make the link visible at a later date.

  1. Click Submit to add the link.

Note: Click Cancel to return to the External Links page without adding the link.
