Customize a course>>Add content>>Course documents
You can organize course documents in learning units. To do so, you must first create the course document learning unit and then add items and files to it.
Learning units are like folders in CourseCompass with two differences: you cannot put a folder in a learning unit, and you can set an order in which students view the items in a learning unit.
To add a course document learning unit:
Click the course title on the My CourseCompass page.
Click Control Panel from the Course Home page.
Click Course Documents under Content Areas.
Click Add Learning Unit.
Under Learning Unit Information, click the arrow next to the Name box and then click a name in the list. If you want to specify a different name, type it in the box below the list.
(Optional) Click Pick to select a color for the learning unit's name. Click a color in the ColorPicker.
Type a description in the box.
Click one of the options for displaying the text:
Smart Text displays the text as it is entered but converts web site URLs and email addresses into links.
Plain Text displays the text exactly as it is entered, with no links.
HTML codes the text you enter with HTML tags.
Note: You can also format text directly using HTML tags.
Specify whether you want to enforce a sequential path through the learning unit. If so, students will be able to view the items and files in the learning unit only in the order in which you place them in the learning unit. You can reorder these items and files at any time.
Specify whether you want the learning unit to open in a separate browser window.
(Optional) Indicate the date on which you want to make the learning unit available to students. Click the Display After box and then click the arrows next to the date and time boxes to select the desired entries.
Note: By default, CourseCompass assumes you want to display the learning unit immediately. You must make allowances for international time differences.
(Optional) Indicate the date until which you want to make the learning unit available to students. Click the Display Until box and then click the arrows next to the date and time boxes to select the desired entries.
Click Yes next to Do you want to make the learning unit visible? if you want the learning unit to be available to students.
If you make the learning unit visible but don't set a start date, CourseCompass displays the learning unit immediately.
If you make the learning unit visible and pick a start date or time in the past, CourseCompass displays the learning unit immediately.
If you make the learning unit visible and pick a start date in the future, CourseCompass won't display the learning unit until the Display After date.
If you make the learning unit invisible, CourseCompass does not display the learning unit even if you have selected a start date, end date, or date range.
Note: If you click No, you can always make the learning unit visible at a later date.
Click Submit to add the learning unit.
Notes:
Click Cancel to return to the previous page without adding the learning unit.
If you specify a sequential path through the learning unit, you can reorder the items and files in the learning unit at any time.
