Copying your own course

You can reuse a course that you created in CourseCompass. You can then modify the copied material as needed for your new course. When you copy a course, the new course has a different course ID and an empty online gradebook.

To copy an existing course:

  1. Click Create a Course on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. On the Create a Course page, click Copy.

  3. Click Copy next to the course you want to reuse.

  4. On the Select Copy Options page, choose the components of the existing course you want to copy to the new course.

  5. Click Submit.

  6. Enter the name of your course in the Course Name box.

  7. (Optional) Enter a description for your course in the Description box.

  8. Under Enter Course End Date, click the arrows next to the month, day, and year boxes to specify the last day of the course.

Note: Students will be unable to access this course beyond the course end date. As an instructor, you will be able to access the course beyond this date, until the course is deleted.

  1. Click Submit to create your course.

Note: Click Cancel to return to the My CourseCompass page without creating the course.

CourseCompass displays a message that it is creating your course. Depending on the quantity and complexity of the course material you selected, this process may take as little as an hour or as long as a business day. You do not need to stay connected to the Internet while CourseCompass creates your course.

  1. Note the course ID displayed in red. You need to give this course ID to the students in your course so they can enroll.

  2. Click Log Out Now to exit CourseCompass, or click Explore CourseCompass to begin investigating the interface.

When CourseCompass finishes adding your course material, you will receive an email message. Also, your course appears on the My CourseCompass page.
