Metadata is data about data. You can store information about the items you add to your CourseCompass course as metadata. Using metadata can help you locate these resources in the future for use in other courses.
If you want to add such descriptive information to an item, select Yes in response to the question Do you want to add Metadata? under Options on the Add Item page.
After you save the item, a Describe button appears alongside the Modify and Remove buttons.
To add metadata:
Click Describe to the right of the item to which you want to add the information.
Complete the Content Metadata page as follows:
Under General Information, click the Edit link and supply catalog, language, and descriptive information.
Under Life Cycle Information, click the Edit link and enter information about the owner of the item.
Under Technical Information, click the Edit link and provide information about the type of resource and where it is stored in CourseCompass.
Under Rights Management Information, click the Edit link and enter information about the copyright status of the item and any restrictions on it.
Click Submit to save the metadata.
Note: Click Cancel to return to the previous page without saving your changes.
